Creation of a JAF BeCA Pilot Board

Following recent events at JetAirFly, the Belgian Cockpit Association – the voice of pilots in Belgium – and Belgian unions met in order to find a way to organise pilots within the company. As a consequence, we have the pleasure to inform you of the creation of a BeCA JAF Pilot Board.

This new Pilot group started on June 17, with the following main objectives:

  • To provide a formal BeCA structure for our JAF members, where all pilot issues will be addressed. Other BeCA Pilot groups will assist JAffers in all aspects of the defence and promotion of our profession.
  • To create a body that will analyse all technical and safety aspects within the company (fatigue, FTLs, efficient reporting), with the support from BeCA experts on safety. The pilot board will be the channel to liaise with the Belgian CAA.
  • To create a body where all industrial data will be gathered and issues identified. BeCA will provide tools for a benchmark of JAF conditions with other TUI subsidiaries (TUI Germany, TUI UK and Nordic). BeCA’s European structure, ECA, is the perfect umbrella for this work. JAF industrial issues will be dealt in close coordination with unions (ACV, ACLVB and BBTK) who provide a framework for social dialogue within the airlines.
  • In this perspective, the integration of JAF Belgium Pilot Group into the TUI virtual airline in 2016 is another priority.

BeCA’s credibility and efficiency has always been built on well-documented expertise combined with thoroughly prepared negotiations. “Quick fixes” rarely deliver satisfactory representation of a pilot group in the long-term.

We therefore strongly encourage all JAF pilots:

  • To join BeCA, simultaneously with a labour union. This is the best way for pilots to get actively represented. You can join BeCA by filling in the online form.
  • To take part in the pilot Board: your participation will be essential! A clear picture of desirable objectives can only be built with inputs from every member.

Do not hesitate to contact us should you need more information. We will keep you updated as soon as there are new developments.

With our best regards,

The BeCA Executive committee
