The ‘Just Culture Body’ takes off
On Monday 6 December 2021, the BCAA announced the implementation of the Just Culture body as required by the occurrence reporting regulation (EU376/2014).
BeCA has been asking for this body for more than six years (actually since the publication of the EU 376 regulation in 2014) at both Belgian and EU Levels and was actively involved in the drafting of the Royal Decree text. This committee is essential to ensure people can report without fear of reprisal. Pilots facing Just Culture violations such as dismissal or excessive disciplinary measures can appeal to the Just Culture body. It will investigate the case, publish an opinion, and could ultimately fine an organisation. We will ensure that Just Culture’s expertise is extended at national level through the Belgian Just Culture Forum.
