Norwegian Air UK: The US rejects the granting of an exemption on its transatlantic route

This is good (temporary) news for pilots. At the beginning of July, the US Department of Transport rejected Norwegian Air UK’s (NAUK) request for an exemption to carry out flight on transatlantic routes. NAUK is a subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle, which makes use of the so-called “flags of convenience” in order to undermine labour and social standards. ECA welcomed this decision, although the US did not cut Norwegian’s access to the US market. They simply decided to give it more thought before making any final decision.
