You may not be fully aware of that, but one of BeCA’s main missions is to support its members, including at the individual level. Indeed, we handle more and more individual cases on all types of issues (medical, licence, working conditions, VAT, etc.), thanks to our large expertise and our competent legal advisors. Should you have a problem, please contact us and we’ll look for a solution together!
As we informed you in the last Cockpit Flash, BeCA has been closely following up the issue of per diems and the proposed royal decree which could result in the taxation as income of per diems. We contacted the unions and airlines to try and stop the text. Right now, the issue has been put on hold with the government on current affairs. We will of course keep an eye on it when the new government comes in office.
On 20 March, Isabelle De Gandt (BeCA’s Executive Coordinator) and Alain Vanalderweirledt (BeCA’s President) met Mrs Emmanuelle Vandamme, the new president of the Executive Committee of SPF Mobility & Transport. We had requested that meeting in order to introduce ourselves and present the pilot’s point of view on the main files we are working on. It was also the occasion for us to stress some of our concerns regarding the services provided to our members. Among others, we suggested that the SPF should have a more pragmatic and customer-oriented service, in line with the reality of today’s professional careers, rather than focus solely on administrative compliance. It’s was a very interesting meeting, where Mrs Vandamme showed openness and determination to develop her vision of a more modern public service. We look forward to strengthening our collaboration in the near future.
On 5 & 21 March, BeCA held its annual General Assembly. The 2018 financial report was presented as well as the 2019 budget. Participants also got an overview of BeCA’s main achievements in 2018, as well as perspectives for 2019 (see pages 4-5). You can have a look at the presentation here (http://bit.ly/2UnbjqV) should you want to get more information on the work of your association!
