In 2012 and 2013, a Dutch TV channel broadcasted a two-episode TV investigation, called “Mayday Mayday”, underlining serious concerns about Ryanair’s fuel policy and “fear culture”. The airline then launched a lawsuit against the channel accusing them of defamation. Fortunately, the Court declared that sufficient evidence had been gathered and that the programme was handled correctly. European pilots welcomed this decision in a Press Release by the European Cockpit Association.
