ECA’s Position on Random testing & Peer support programs

Cockpit Flash articles
In a position paper issued in January 2016, ECA spoke against the implementation of random tests on pilots to detect alcohol and drug abuses. It highlighted that these tests have not proved efficient and may lead to misleading results. Instead, it calls for the implementation of Peer Support Programmes, which allow early intervention and prevention of any personal problems a pilot may face. BeCA will organise a dedicated workshop on 18 October, to assess the situation in Belgium and the potential for setting up such systems.
