New survey for pilots

During recent years, knowledge about wake turbulence behaviour has increased, thanks to operational measurements, better understanding of physics and wake encounter flight testing. This has contributed to the introduction of new wake separation standards at major European airports, bringing operational benefits while preserving safety.

As pilots, we are direct witnesses of wake turbulence encounters. A new survey, prepared by EUROCONTROL, the French Civil Aviation Technical Service (STAC) and with the support of ECA, aims at collecting your expert pilot judgments to rate wake encounters severity. The survey is ultimately aiming at more harmonized criteria for occurrence investigation and operational validation of new minima. May I kindly encourage you to take part in this survey and promote it as you deem appropriate?

The survey is designed to take no more than 10 minutes to complete and is online until 31 Oct 2015.
