Loss of Licence Insurance

BeCA members have access to a pilot insurance program made available by APPN, providing financial security in case of job loss due to temporary or permanent medical issues.

APPN is a French non-profit association created in 1957. It is run by and for Pilots, in collaboration with solid insurers, to offer specifically designed insurance for professional pilots at all stages of their careers.

BeCA has been working with APPN for more than a decade to ensure its members are well taken care of. This strong partnership is the key to achieving the best possible coverage and support in case of problem!

Here’s a breakdown of the program:

•         Insurance Options:
  • Permanent Loss of License: Covers income loss if you permanently lose your license due to medical reasons or accidents.
  • Temporary Loss of License: Provides financial support if your license is temporarily suspended, making you unable to work.
  • Death Insurance: Offers financial assistance to your beneficiaries in case of your death.
•       Eligibility: Open to all BeCA members. NOTE: you have to join before turning 45
  • Employed individuals qualify for all insurance options.
  • Unemployed individuals (including job seekers) are eligible for Permanent Loss of License & Death Insurance only.
  • Students (under 35) can only benefit for a maximum of 3 years: 
    • Definitive Loss Of Licence (in case of permanent loss of medical fitness) 
    • Life & Total and Irreversible Loss of Autonomy
• Age Restrictions:
  • Maximum enrollment age: 45
  • All coverage ends at age 60 or upon retirement (extendable to 65, see details below)
• Renewal for Permanent Loss of License:
  • At age 55, APPN will offer you the option to extend coverage from 60 to 65.
• Combining with Existing Insurance:

• • You can combine APPN insurance with other loss of license policies you might have through your employer. Coverage amounts from different plans will be cumulative. Please note that the cumulative temporary loss of licence coverages may be, at most, your net salary.

Additional Points:

• BeCA members receive a 50% discount on the administrative fee.
• You can choose the type of insurance you need; there’s no obligation to get all three.
