Cockpit Flash Summer 2017 – News from your fellow pilots

Cockpit Flash articles
Due to the end of his contract with ASL Belgium, Tony Ossendorp had to terminate his membership with BeCA. He wanted to thank BeCA and remind all pilots the importance of remaining united. Here are his kind words about our association.
After joining TNT Airways, I joined BeCA, firmly believing in strong collective pilot’s representation in all fields of aviation. I have been a member – and still am – of VNV-DALPA for more than 35 years and in these years have learned that the strength exerted by unity and professionalism as is displayed by e.g. VNV-DAL- PA, pays off for all. I wish a similar signature for BeCA and positive results in the (near) future.
I firmly believe that BeCA is the only way forward for aviation and aviators in Belgium. Given facts as weak support by unions, uninspiring government oversight and corrupted management structures and nepo- tism in the airlines, a fertile environment for exhaustion of pilot’s work conditions and poor protection of individuals exists. I honestly hope that BeCA continues to fight for more influence in all aspects of aviation in Belgium and is awarded a full seat at every negotiations table where topics as regulations and pilot’s con- tracts are discussed. Current and aspiring pilots in Belgium deserve united representation, fair work condi- tions and more respect than they enjoy now. And airline’s customers deserve to safely fly in planes piloted by motivated, justly compensated and well-trained crew.
I wish BeCA and its members all the best.
Tony Ossendorp
BeCA Committee would like to congratulate Bart Smet (BeCA VP for Thomas Cook) and Annemie De Moor for the birth of Adrian Smet (30/07/2017), brother of Warre Smet and Geike Smet. Welcome!
It is with great sadness that we were informed of the death of our colleagues Dirk Stremes (captain, Ryanair – left side photo) and Philippe Stouffs (first officer, TCAB – right side photo). Our deepest thoughts go to their families.
