Airline Update (CF-2019-2): EAT/DHL

BRU CLA urgently needed!

The BRU company pension issue has made it very clear that we urgently need a CLA for BRU based pilots to protect our working conditions. It indeed revealed that our management is ready to unilaterally change the terms and conditions previously agreed upon. The only way to secure them is to enshrined them into a legally binding CLA. However, our management’s position has been very ambiguous until now and their latest proposal is meaningless. The work therefore continues.

EAT Just Culture protocol

In May, our new Safety Director presented to BRU reps his project for an expanded Just Culture policy. The document included the concept of an Event Review Group (ERG), which BeCA/ECA support in its principle. However, this proposal lacked some details, reason why we had made some suggestions for improvement. However, at the end of May, the Safety Director unilaterally decided to urgently implement this protocol, without considering our suggestions. The approval of the protocol was forced by a vote in the Leipzig Crew Committee (which ended in 3 against 2). This is extremely regrettable for an issue that requires consensus and trust. We are now waiting to see how the text will be implemented in LEJ (there is no agreement yet in BRU).

BeCA/VC Renew their Memorandum of Understanding

On 19 June, during ECA Conference, BeCA President, Alain Vanalderweireldt, and VC President, Markus Wahl, signed an updated their Memorandum of Understanding. EAT/DHL pilots based in LEJ who are BeCA members automatically become VC members and both organisations commit to working together to ensure existing working conditions are guaranteed and to harmonise and synchronise our communications on issues that concern all pilots of the company.
