2016 Social Elections

The law requires that social elections take place every 4 years. This gives the staff the opportunity to elect pre-selected staff members to represent them in a dialogue with management. At least once per month, a meeting must take place between the Health and Safety Board and the Company Council, where management and elected staff members discuss ongoing issues within the company.
To ensure that pilots’ interests are fully understood and are defended towards the management, it is of paramount importance that BeCA members are present within the union representatives. We therefore encourage you to apply for the social elections. You can count on our full support.
Timeline
Between 11 & 24 December – Official start of the social elections.
The company informs its Staff about the upcoming elections.
Starting between 10 & 23 January – The “Occult Period”
The period when the company does not know who is registered on the election lists and who isn’t. Any staff member could be a candidate, so companies are very reluctant to dismiss anyone during this period. If they fire a staff member, they could end up firing a protected candidate and paying a lot more in dismissal fee than initially budgeted.
Between 15 & 28 March – Disclosure of the list of candidates
The list will reveal to the employer who is a protected employee and who isn’t. So back to business as usual.
9-22 May – Elections
You will be able to vote by registered letter should you not be available to come to the voting office.
Between 11 & 24 May – Publications of the results
Between 23 June & 6 July – First meetings
The Health and Safety Board and the Company Council will hold their first meeting.
